Ca dei Frati Lugana 2024

This vibrant white wine originates from Italy, within the Lugana D.O.C. appellation spanning the Lombardy region along the southern shores of Lake Garda. The historic Ca dei Frati estate has deep roots, with records of the house dating back to 1782, though the modern winery truly took form under Domenico Dal Cero and later his son Pietro, who bottled the first house label in 1969. Currently managed by Pietro's wife and children, the family guides the estate with an innovative vision that remains deeply respectful of their ancestral viticultural traditions. The grapes are sourced from beautifully situated family vineyard parcels on the calcareous clay soils surrounding Sirmione, which lend a distinct mineral depth to the fruit.

Wine Description

Ca dei Frati I Frati Lugana presents a clear, pale yellow colour with subtle greenish reflections. The sensory profile is highly elegant, displaying a concentrated and fresh bouquet of white flowers, honeysuckle, apricot, and peach, layered with undertones of balsamic notes, ripe lemon, and a hint of wild mint. On the palate, the wine is fresh and linear, wrapping completely around the mouth with excellent balance, mid-palate depth, and a trademark richness. It is characterized by an exuberant, crisp acidity and a strong savoury essence that drives into a persistent, lively, and saline finish. This 100% Turbiana white wine reached an alcohol content (ABV) of 13% and was aged for six months in stainless steel tanks on its fine lees, followed by two additional months of refinement in the bottle. While the family employs traditional estate practices, this bottling is not certified organic.
