Brothers Marcel and Rene started Maison Levert Freres and is one of the oldest in Burgundy, with archives dating back to the beginning of the 15th century. Ever since the house was formed, it has been based in the village of Mercurey. Today, the family has 9ha of its own vineyards but they also work with farmers from all over Burgundy, whom they buy grapes from.
The grapes for this beauty stem from the village of Pommard. This village is off the beaten path in the Cote de Beaune, but this obscurity makes for some hidden gems. This wine is concentrated and elegant with a lovely balance of blackberry, cherry pit, ripe plum, bilberry and a hint of fresh roses with some funky savouriness. The combination of older and younger vines, forms its classy freshness with a lingering intensity.
